On Tuesday, September 22, VOLS Benefits Law Project Director Jean Stevens testified before the New York City Council’s Committee on General Welfare in reference to Introduction No. 101-2026. She noted that a rapid decision on a CityFHEPS application, as addressed in Introduction 101-2026, would assist in shielding clients from eviction and going into shelter. She also urged the Council to explore other legislation to expedite and streamline the CityFHEPS process for applicants applying through Homebase providers.
