As of December 2016, an individual who wants to appeal a decision by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to reduce or suspend Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits can file a request for reconsideration or a request for hearing online using the iAppeals system. This system is only for non-medical/non-disability issues and includes appeals of an overpayment decision by SSA. Click here for the iAppeals website.

Lawyers and other representatives of a beneficiary can also use the iAppeals system to file appeals. This system will be especially useful for those who have difficulty traveling to an SSA office in person, and where a deadline is approaching.
