Stephanie Taylor is a legal services attorney with 20 years of experience and a deep commitment to expanding access to justice through pro bono partnerships. She is the Director of the VOLS Incarcerated Mothers Law Project, significantly expanding the project from 2022 – present, including establishing regular in-person legal clinics at Bedford Hills and Taconic Correctional Facilities and Rikers Island’s Rose M. Singer Center. Stephanie also is VOLS’ first Pro Bono Director, a role that reflects her long-standing dedication to integrating high-impact pro bono work into legal services and expanding VOLS’ capacity to serve New Yorkers. 

Prior to these roles, Stephanie led the evolution of the VOLS Unemployed Workers Project, including its expansion into the Benefits Law Project. Stephanie previously worked at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, Queens Legal Services, where she served in the Domestic Violence & Family Law and Immigrant Rights Projects as Project Director, and Brooklyn Legal Services’ Immigrants’ Rights & Advocacy Project. 

Stephanie is the recipient of the 2025 New York City Bar Association Legal Services Award. She has a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from the University of Florida and is admitted to practice in the New York Appellate Division and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
